Aviation in the United States is built on a number of publicly available datasets provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Every airport, navid, fix, runway, weather observation, and forecast is provided, free of charge, to anyone who knows where to look. Nav by Sortie is meant to demystify these sources and, in some small way, educate the general public about the data backbone of US flight.
Sortie is an operations platform for point to point Part 135 operators. We use these datasets as the spine for destinations and weather.
Coded Instrument Flight Procedures from the FAA in ARINC 424 format. Contains SIDs, STARs, instrument approaches, terminal/enroute waypoints, airways, navaids, localizers, path points, airspace boundaries, and minimum safe altitudes. Parsed from FAACIFP18.
